Dayton Fire responded to the 1200 block of Amherst Place at around 12:45 a.m. on reports of a structure fire with an entrapment, Montgomery County Regional Dispatch confirmed to News Center 7.
When crews arrived, they performed an initial search and found that no one was trapped inside the three-story building, dispatch informed. Crews determined the house was empty and began an offensive attack to extinguish the fire that “fully engulfed” the home.
Crews attacked the fire from multiple sides, according to emergency scanners. For one, they attempted to knock down the fire from the east side and brought a line to the third floor.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
Dayton Fire led the investigation into the incident.
