DAYTON — Tuesday night was a night that baseball fans in the Miami Valley have long-awaited.
For the first time since 2019, the Dayton Dragons officially opened the Day Air Ballpark to full stadium capacity.
The move comes after Gov. DeWine’s recent elimination of COVID-19 related health orders and restrictions.

Long before the first pitch at 7:05 p.m., a crowd of excited fans made its way through the gates at the park, not having to wear a mask or social distance.
Al Campise, from Englewood, has been a season ticket holder for years, including when the Dragons welcomed back a restricted crowd.
“It was boring, it really was,” Campise said.
Dragons President and General Manger Bob Murphy told News Center 7 that getting crowds back to the ballpark is important for the area.
“That’s really what gives the whole feel to Dayton baseball, is bringing this community together, as family, friends, and out for a beautiful night in Dayton, Ohio,” Murphy said.
Fans like Bruce Robson were glad to bring the family out for the first time in a long time.
“It’s just a fun night, beautiful weather, we’ve been fully vaccinated, we just feel safe.” Robson said.
When it comes to vaccinations, the Dragons are still asking fans who are not fully vaccinated to wear a mask.
The Dragons are scheduled to play 54 more home games during the regular season.
