Dayton breaks 47-year-old rainfall record

DAYTON — Dayton is breaking another daily rainfall record this year.

As of 4:51 p.m. on Tuesday, Dayton recorded 1.37 inches of rain. That surpassed the previous record of .84 inches set in 1975, according to the National Weather Service.

Dayton broke another daily record last week, on February 17, when 1.22 inches of rain fell. That broke a more than 100-year-old record set in 1910.

Additionally, Columbus also set a daily rainfall record today.

1.39 inches of rain fell in Columbus, as of 4:51 p.m. on Tuesday. That broke the previous record of .96 inches set in 1971.
