Reports of damage from Monday afternoon's sudden summer thunderstorm ranged from trees on houses and vehicles to downed power lines to a report of a new round of flooding at the Dayton Mall in Miami Twp.
Police, fire/rescue and Dayton Power & Light crews were kept busy through the evening responding to calls from residents who suffered property damage.
The report about flooding at the Dayton Mall arose out of a second round of storms that passed through the region on Monday night.
There have been no reports of any injuries.
Here's a timeline from some of the damage reports:
- 8:50 p.m.: Flooding reported in the Dayton Mall parking lot, Miami Twp.
- 8:46 p.m.: Transformer explodes in the 2200 block of Ferndown, Miami Twp.
- 8:29 p.m.: Tree reported down on Shroyer and Wonderly, Oakwood. Reports of lightning strikes in Franklin.
- 8:22 p.m.: Tree, leaning against wires, on fire in the 700 block of Harlan Place, Dayton. Also, power poles snapped along Yellow Springs-Fairfield Road, between Roehner Drive and Black Lane. Uprooted tree reported at residence on Roehner and Saratoga. Tree branches strewn along streets in Rona Hills.
- 8:06 p.m.: Wires down and on fire in 1600 block of Pershing Boulevard, Dayton
- 7:42 p.m.: Evacuation at the Woodman Park Apartments for possible gas leak
- 7:18 p.m.: Windows blown out at the CVS in the Eastown Shopping Center on Linden Avenue.
- 7:16 p.m.: Tree down in the 1700 block of Suman Avenue, Dayton
- 6:51 p.m.: Power lines and a tree onto the roof of a house in the 5900 block of Burkhardt Avenue.
- 6:40 p.m.: Two large trees down near Woodman Drive and Eastman Avenue, partially blocking the street.
- 6:38 p.m.: Tree onto a house, 1600 block of Seabrook Road, Dayton. Gas leak reported as part of that damage.
- 6:39 p.m.: Wires down on Gummer Avenue, Dayton
- 6:31 p.m.: Trees uprooted and on a building int he 4900 block of Woodman Park Drive, Dayton. Shingles have been blown off residences.
- 6:25 p.m.: General damage report in the 1100 block of Blakely Street.
