DAYTON — One person has been injured in a crash on W. Third Street in Dayton.
Regional dispatch received reports of a two-vehicle accident at 4:16 p.m. in the area of W. Third Street and Brooklyn and Abbey Avenues.

An initial investigation showed that one vehicle was attempting to turn east on W. Third Street when it collided with a vehicle traveling west on W. Third Street. One vehicle then split in half when it wrapped around a telephone pole.
Police believe speed was a contributing factor.
Police on scene told News Center 7 that one adult male was transported to Miami Valley Hospital. Sgt. Gordon Cairns, Dayton Police Department Traffic Services Supervisor, said the man was in serious condition.

Both vehicles had single occupants. The other driver was not injured in the crash.
Cairns said that W. Third Street is one of the city’s top 10 locations for crashes every year.
The crash is under investigation.
