Family of 4, dog escape unharmed after fire at Preble County home

GASPER TWP., PREBLE CO. — UPDATE @ 2:15 a.m: A family of four and their dog were able to make it out of their home without any injuries after a fire occurred early Wednesday morning.

Fire officials say they responded to the 30 block of Fiord Drive on a working structure fire and were met with smoke and flames coming from the house around 12:45 a.m.

A preliminary investigation revealed the fire started from a wood-burning stove on the first floor of the home.

Crews quickly extinguished the flames, which spread to the second floor and into the attic area.

The home did sustain smoke damage as a result of the blaze, but the family will be able to stay there tonight, officials say.

Camden firefighters assisted Gasper Twp. crews with the incident.

Crews are responding to a reported fully involved structure fire on Fiord Drive early Wednesday.

Initial reports indicate the fire occurred in the 30 block around 12:45 a.m.

Mutual aid from nearby fire departments have been called to assist in the blaze.
