Crews battle house fire in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD — Fire crews worked to extinguish a house fire in Springfield Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters were reportedly battling the fire in the area of Woodford Drive.

Dispatch with the Springfield Fire Division told News Center 7 that at least one person was taken to the hospital due to a hand laceration. Information on how the person received the laceration was not made available.

Two pets were also confirmed to have died in the fire.

Dispatch says the house has been deemed a total loss due to the damage. Heavy smoke was reported to have been coming from the home at the time of the fire.

Details on the cause of the fire have not been released yet.
