XENIA TWP., GREENE COUNTY — Counselors and other support services will be available for Greene County Career Center students and staff following the death of two students in crash Wednesday.
Troy Haney and Jarred Hixson, both 16 and from Xenia, died in a two-vehicle crash at state Route 235 and Hilltop Road.
“The news that two of our students were involved in this terrible accident is an incredible loss to our entire school community, and we join their family, friends and loved ones in mourning them,” said Dave Deskins, Greene County Career Center superintendent.
Counselors will be on campus Thursday and Friday for students, faculty and staff.
Haney was driving a Kia Spectra on state Route 235 south that went left of center and hit a Mercury Grand Marquis traveling north, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Hixson was a passenger in the Kia and was thrown from the vehicle, said troopers.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the second vehicle, 23-year-old Shelby Mills of Brookville, was taken to
Greene Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injures.
Her passenger, 4-year-old Madlyan Mills, was not injured.
The crash is still under investigation.
