Coronavirus: Xenia trucking company hauling items for FEMA during pandemic

XENIA — Local trucking company teams up with Federal Emergency Management Agency to haul goods to fight the coronavirus.

HomeRun Trucking Inc. in Xenia has about 200 truck drivers that haul goods across the country. Earlier this week, a major manufacturer it works with closed in Pennsylvania due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In effort to keep its drivers employed, HomeRun Trucking Inc. contacted FEMA and signed up to help move freight.

"We don't know for sure where we're going. They haven't given us the actual destination yet or pick-up location but by the way I understand it, we could be picking up anywhere in the United States,”  Tom Milby, Vice President of Safety said.

“It could be generators, it could be medical supplies. It could be anything FEMA wants us to move,” Milby said.

At its headquarters in Xenia the company has hired a full-time employee to clean everything from doorknobs to countertops in its building

The company is also hiring truck drivers but a CDL, or commercial driver's license in required.
