DAYTON — COVID-19 antibody testing will be available to the general public at Premier Health’s drive-thru testing location Monday through Friday with expanded hours.
>> Coronavirus: What you need to know Monday
Antibody testing can detect a specific antibody related to COVID-19, which if detected during the test likely indicates a person was previously infected with coronavirus.
The test is being performed in partnership with CompuNet, Fidelity Health Care and the University of Dayton.
The collection side is located at the University of Dayton Arena and is open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The test costs $65 and the amount is due by credit card at the time the test is conducted.
Visitors to the test site should wear a face mask or covering.
To receive the test, visit compunetlab.com and go to the COVID-19 section, print and fill out the order form and bring it to the collection site. No doctor’s note is required.
Test results will be available through CompuNet’s online patient portal, My Labs Now, within a few days or by mail within ten days.
The test is a valuable resource for healthcare providers as it could provide important information for people who might be able to donate convalescent plasma through the Community Blood Center. That plasma is currently helping patients who are battling COVID-19.
Antibody testing is not for people who believe they actively have COVID-19. If someone has COVID-19 symptoms they should contact their healthcare provider, who could assist in determining if a COVID-19 test is appropriate.
