About 2 p.m., Clinton County Ag Society Director Gretta Gray and Sheriff Ralph D. Fizer affirmed the report.

A few hours later, a statement from fair officials confirmed the case of H3N2 swine flu in one hog.

There are no human cases at the moment, according to the release from fair organizers.

The Hog Barn went into a state-mandated quarantine and will remain closed to the public for the rest of the fair, which ends Saturday, July 15.

Gray said the show has been canceled and the hogs will not be sold to market, according to WKKJ 94.3 FM.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to the fairgrounds to keep fair goers back as hogs were loaded onto a truck to be taken to slaughter.

By Friday, all hogs will have been removed from the fairgrounds, according to fair organizers.
