City of Dayton to spend $40K to combat geese waste issue

DAYTON — The City of Dayton has announced it will be taking steps to combat the number of geese in the area and the problems they are causing.

During mating season, geese can get aggressive and even attack facility workers trying to clean up the bird’s feces.

The city plans to spend over $40,000 over the next three years to deal with the issue.

Part of the funds will be used to hire a company to pick up the feces, and the rest will go to a company that uses dogs to scare geese off.

“Obviously the dogs are trained never harmed the geese, but the geese don’t realize that,” according to Greg Wagner, owner of Stalk and Awe Geese Management.

When asked what people should do if they have geese problems, Wagner said folks should think about changing their landscaping by making it less appealing for the geese.
