One-year-old hit by car backing out of driveway remains in critical condition

DAYTON — A one-year old remains in critical condition at Dayton Children’s Hospital after he being hit by a car Wednesday evening.

Avion Chatman, 1, was hit by a car backing out a driveway in the 4500 block of Bluehaven Drive.

According to a Dayton police report, officers are investigating if the driver who hit the child was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

A traffic crash report indicates the one-year-old was standing in the driveway when the car backed up, hitting them.
