Name of final unidentified victim from Clark Co. crash released; 5th victim died Tuesday

CLARK COUNTY — UPDATE @ 9:55 a.m. (March 24):

State troopers have identified the lone remaining unidentified victim killed in a fiery crash in Clark County March 12.

Anuj Dutta, 23, of Williamsburg, Kentucky, was identified as the third victim in a Mercedes Benz that was killed in the crash on Middle Urbana Road at state Route 334.

Also killed in the Mercedes was the driver, Hamza Iftikhar, 33, of Springfield, and back seat passenger Michael Javier Crespo Capella, 29, also of Springfield. All three victims in the Mercedes were pronounced dead at the scene, however Iftikhar and Capella were only identified earlier this week.

David Griffin, 50, of Enon, was a passenger in the other car, a Mini Cooper, and was killed the night of the crash. The driver of the Mini Cooper, Hope Griffin, 43, of Enon, died from her injuries in a Dayton hospital Tuesday, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

A third victim in the Mini Cooper, identified as a juvenile, suffered critical injuries however the victim’s current condition wasn’t known.

The crash remains under investigation and additional details were not released.

UPDATE @ 9:15 a.m. (March 24):

A fifth person has died from their injuries following a fiery crash in Clark County earlier this month, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Hope Griffin, 43, of Enon, died from her injuries in a Dayton hospital Tuesday, a spokesperson for the highway patrol said Thursday.

Hope Griffin was the driver of a Mini Cooper that was hit by a Mercedes Benz at the intersection of Middle Urbana Road at state Route 334 March 12.

Also killed in the crash was David Griffin, 50, also of Enon who was the passenger in the Mini Cooper.

All three people in the Mercedes were also killed, so far only two of the victims have been identified.

Hamza Iftikhar, 33, of Springfield was identified as the driver of the Mercedes and Michael Javier Crespo Capella, 29, also of Springfield, was a back seat passenger, both killed in the crash. The identity of the front seat passenger of the Mercedes has not yet been identified.

UPDATE @ 1:25 p.m. (March 21):

State troopers have released the names of two more victims killed in a fiery, quadruple-fatal Clark County crash on Middle Urbana Road last week.

Hamza Iftikhar, 33, of Springfield was identified as the driver of a Mercedes Benz who was killed when he crashed into a Mini Cooper, a spokesperson for the Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said in an updated media release Monday.

Michael Javier Crespo Capella, 29, also of Springfield, was identified as the back-seat passenger in the Mercedes who was also killed, the spokesperson said.

State troopers have not identified the front-seat passenger of the Mercedes who was also killed in the crash. The victim’s name will be released after positive identification and notification of family, the spokesperson said.

The crash happened March 12 on Middle Urbana Road at state Route 334 in Clark County. State troopers said the Mercedes Iftikhar was driving crashed into the Mini Cooper, killing all three inside the Mercedes and a passenger inside the Mini Cooper.

David Griffin, 50, from Enon was identified as the passenger in the Mini Cooper who was killed. The driver, Hope Griffin, 43, also of Enon and a third passenger identified as a juvenile, were flown from the scene by medical helicopter in critical condition. Their current conditions were not immediately known.

FIRST REPORT

The Clark County Coroner’s Office is still working to identify three of the four people killed in a crash on Middle Urbana Road Saturday night, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

The crash was reported around 11 p.m. Saturday on Middle Urbana Road at state Route 334.

Three men were killed when the Mercedes-Benz they were in crashed into a Mini Cooper and caught fire.

“It’s like bursting out in flames,” a 12-year-old who called 911 said. “There’s definitely somebody in it.”

The three males in the white Mercedes-Benz were traveling south on Middle Urbana Road when it crashed into the Mini-Cooper going westbound, the state patrol said.

All three males in the Mercedes-Benz died at the scene. A passenger in the Mini Cooper, David Griffin, 50, of Enon, also died at the scene.

The driver of the Mini Cooper, Hope Griffin, a 43-year-old Enon woman, and a 14-year-old male passenger were flown by medical helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital in critical condition. Troopers said Monday morning they are now in stable condition.

Details about what led to the crash were not immediately available
