“TURKEY SAYS BUCKLE BUCKLE” made a comeback on highway message boards across the state Wednesday morning as drivers hit the road for holiday travel.

On Wednesday night, ODOT will focus on impaired driving with the message “DON’T CAUSE A TRAFFIC YAM. DRIVE SOBER” as OSHP told ODOT it’s one of the highest times for impaired drivers.

Travelling on Thanksgiving Day? Be prepared to be warned with the message “VISITING THE IN-LAWS? SLOW DOWN GET THERE LATE.”

On Friday, the state will focus on distracted driving in hopes that people are not shopping while driving by telling drivers to “DROP YOUR PHONE COLD TURKEY FOCUS ON DRIVING.”

The holiday will transition to the battle on the football field between Ohio State and Michigan, but the messages are being planned as a surprise.

Previously ODOT has used the following sayings:

“DON’T DRIVE SAUCED. LEAVE IT TO THE CRANBERRIES”

“DON’T DISCOUNT YOUR SEATBELT”

“GET YOUR HEAD IN THE GAME. DRIVE SOBER”
