Boston Marathon director to speak at Air Force Marathon

The director of the world's oldest annual marathon and one of the most prestigious events is scheduled to speak at the 2014 Air Force Marathon in September.

The Boston Athletic Association's website supports the claims given to the Boston Marathon, which has been directed by Dave McGillivray for 26 years.

McGillivray is expected to speak at the events leading up to the 2014 Air Force Marathon and will participate in race-day activities, according to marathon officials.

"I have heard Dave speak many times," said Rob Aguiar, director of the Air Force Marathon. "He has come to our race before as a featured speaker and he always draws a large crowd."

Officials said McGillvray will speak at the sports and fitness expo, breakfast of champions and pasta dinner in advance of race day.

Pre-race events are scheduled Sept. 18-19 and the marathon takes place on Sept. 20.

Registration for the 2014 marathon begins at midnight on Jan. 1, 2014.
