Baby dead, mother and toddler flown to hospital after Ohio house fire

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio — A baby has died and a mother and toddler were hospitalized after a house fire in Muskingum County, according to WCMH-4 TV and WHIZ-5 TV.

The fire occurred Friday afternoon in a home on East Street in Cannelville.

The mother and her 2-year-old child were flown to hospitals with injuries, both stations reported.

South Zanesville Fire Department Chief Russell Taylor said the mother sustained first and second-degree burns and the toddler sustained second and third-degree burns.

Both stations reported that an 8-month-old baby boy couldn’t be located during the fire.

Taylor later confirmed the infant died in the fire.

The home was considered a total loss and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
