As shown on News Center 7 at 5:00, all residents need to do is scan the QR code provided by the prosecutor’s office and they’ll receive the voucher.

Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck, Jr. said the amount can take residents from one end of the county to the other.

“I had no idea of the popularity this program would be,” Heck said.

The ArriveSafe program started in 2007 and since then, the county has given out nearly $18,000 rides.

“I’m happy to see that so many of our community members are making the smart decision and doing the right thing, and getting home safely after celebrating with alcohol,” Heck said.

In the last five years, Montgomery County saw nearly 3,000 OVI-related crashes, resulting in the death of more than 180 people.

The program runs from 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve though 6 a.m. on Jan. 2, 2025.
