Alter High School head football coach tests positive for COVID-19

KETTERING — Alter High School head football coach Ed Domsitz tested positive for COVID-19 Monday ahead of the Division III state semifinal.

Alter’s principal Lourdes Lambert told News Center 7 that Domsitz would not be coaching at the game.

Lambert also said the school conducted contract tracing after Domsitz’s positive diagnosis.

“During the school day, Mr. Domsitz is diligent about wearing his mask and staying outside of six feet from his students,” explained Lambert. “For that reason, none of his students were quarantined.”

The Alter football team played against Ross High School within their 48 hour lookback period, and the school looked at the bus ride, the game and pre- and post-game activities.

“Again, he diligently wore his mask throughout the game as did those non players and assistant coaches on the sidelines.” explained Lambert. “Mr. Domsitz does not coach a position, and always coaches in a socially distant manner.”

The team is set to play against Columbus DeSales on Friday and plans to adhere to the safety protocols set in place to keep their team and their opponents safe.
