Air conditioning service calls increase as record highs hit the region

DAYTON — As temperatures reach record highs, many of us have been using our air conditioning units more, but some are having trouble getting them repaired.

AC repair companies are already in high demand this time of year and a heat wave hitting the Miami Valley doesn’t help.

Shane Wiget, service manager of Tanner Heating and AC said his phone is constantly ringing with potential customers.

“It’s been pretty busy the last month since the temperature swing from the spring into the summer,” Wiget said.

He said his business hasn’t been immune to many of the issues hitting business right now.

“Everybody across the board is having issues finding good quality service techs, we’ve definitely got that issue long with the issue of the manufacturers not having parts available, as well as equipment not available.. supply chains... things that everybody else is dealing with,” he said.

Wiget suggests keeping your AC up to date by changing your filter every 1 to 3 months, keeping the coils clean and when you leave the house turn the AC up a few degrees instead of shutting it off.
