The exercise created a practice scenario where an active shooter, played by an actor, entered the high school, a Sidney police spokesperson said.
The training intended to help Lehman students, staff, and local responders be as “efficient and effective as possible in responding to an active threat,” the spokesperson said.
The high school closed during this exercise from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

First responders responded from a staging area near the campus, the spokesperson stated. Crews sent a live radio transmission to the Sidney Police Dispatch Center through an alternate Sidney Police channel as if the scenario were actively happening.
The following agencies participated to gain the necessary training: Sidney Police, Sidney Fire, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio Highway Patrol, Anna Police, Botkins Police, Emergency Management Association, and Wilson Health.
