7th annual Barnstorming Carnival kicks off this weekend

SPRINGFIELD — The seventh annual Barnstorming Carnival is kicking off this weekend at the the Springfield Beckley Airport.

The carnival will be held July 17 and 18 with gates opening at 8 a.m and will run until 5 p.m. each day. The event is admission free.

Aviation enthusiasts will have the opportunity to experience rare 1920′s,1930′s, and 1940′s aircraft on display, along with real barnstormers who will be sharing their knowledge of aviation.

The carnival will also include a car cruise-in on Saturday, July 17 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and food truck rally Sunday, July 18, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There will be a variety of other activities, including kids peddle planes, paper and powered rocket building workshops, foam glider building, balloon tying clowns, magic shows.

“See these rare aircraft and fly around, and experience the barnstorming era of aviation,” event organizers said.

Event organizers said the event will take place rain or shine, but biplanes will not be running until the weather clears up.
