Naveaeh Stewart, 14, Thomas Stewart, 13, died in the shooting, according to the Montgomery and Clark County coroners.

Police arrived at the 1200 block after receiving reports of a double shooting around 11:30 p.m. Friday.

Police said they are still looking into who fired the shots that killed the two children, however said there is no threat to the community.

There have not been any arrests for the shooting, according to the report.

Springfield City Schools said both victims were students in the district and grieve counselors are on hand for any students who need someone to speak to about the shooting.

“Our thoughts are with the family, teachers and friends, neighbors and all who loved and were loved by the two students involved,” said Springfield City Schools Superintendent Bob Hill. “Times like these remind us that we are one family in the Springfield City School District, whether students are here for their entire K-12 experience or if only for a season of their precious lives. They mean the world to us.”

The district and Clark County Prosecutor Daniel Driscoll said there isn’t any evidence to support a recent video circulating on social media with false information about the incident. The district and the prosecutor’s office is asking “to stop spreading the rumor further.”

The names of the children have not been released by investigators.
