170th Montgomery County Fair continues today

MONTGOMERY COUNTY — The 170th Montgomery County Fair kicked off this weekend, and day two will start today.

This year, fairgoers will be able to socialize more than the previous year, where COVID-19 restrictions were more strict.

News Center 7′s Kayla McDermott spoke with fair officials, and they told her Sunday’s turnout was high.

Over the course of this week, fairgoers will be able to enjoy games, music, tractor pulls, a circus, and later today, there will be a demolition derby.

We spoke to Ashley Wingo, a parent from Trotwood, about how her family is enjoying the fair.

“It feels really, really good. You know, she was actually born like right after her right before COVID started. So this is actually the first time she’s really got to be out as well,” said Wingo.

Montgomery County Fair and Rodeo website say more than 50,000 people attend the fair each year. However, that wasn’t the case for the past two years.

Since COVID forced the fair to scale back and made people wary of coming out, attendance suffered.

This year’s attendance is welcome to local vendors, hotels, businesses, and performers.

Admission is $10 per person with free parking. Those under the age of 6 get in free.
