Man dies after being hit by vehicle in Clermont Co.; Suspect flees scene

CLERMONT COUNTY — One man is dead after being struck by a vehicle in Miami Township, Clermont County, late Friday night.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Michael Staats, 51, of Loveland, was walking southeast on Branch Hill Guinea Pike around 10:00 p.m., according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Staats was hit by an unknown vehicle that fled the area before officials arrived.

Miami Township EMS pronounced Staats dead at the scene.

OSHP was assisted by Miami Township Fire and EMS, the Miami Township Police Department, and the Clermont County Coroner’s Office.

The crash is still under investigation by the Batavia Post of OSHP.
