KETTERING — Kettering city leaders approved a plan to outfit members of the city’s police department with body-worn cameras.

City Council Tuesday evening unanimously approved spending $236,030 on 90 of the devices, which numerous law enforcement agencies across the country have increasingly turned to in recent months as part of an effort to increase transparency.

“We believe the addition of body cameras will build on and help with the community’s trust,” Mayor Don Patterson said just before council approved the plan.
