SPRINGFIELD — UPDATE @ 9:05 a.m.:
Firefighters confirm a woman is dead after a fire broke out in a Springfield house on Chestnut Avenue.
Four other people were able to get out of the house and were transported to area hospitals for treatment of non life-threatening injuries, officials said.
The fire was spotted by an off-duty deputy from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office who reported the blaze around 7 a.m. , according to investigators.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Officials said a family dog was also killed in the fire and two cats are missing.

FIRST REPORT
Firefighters are on the scene of a reported house fire on Chestnut Avenue in Springfield Wednesday morning, according to initial reports.
Crews were called around 7 a.m. to the 500 block of Chestnut Avenue on reports of a fire and possibly people trapped inside.
Emergency scanner traffic indicates four victims were transported from the scene to an area hospital. Their conditions were not immediately known.
