Fairborn SUV-pickup crash sends truck over guardrail

A 55-year-old Fairborn man who overturned his pickup truck into a creekbed tonight was charged with OVI and cited for a red-light violation, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Xenia Post.

Kevin Carsten was headed east around 6:45 p.m. on Dayton Yellow Springs Road when he ran a red light Treibein Road. His 1998 Chevrolet S-10 pickup collided with a 2015 Ford Escape driven by 45-year-old Deborah Prevo of Xenia. The impact forced Carsten’s pickup to roll over a guardrail and land in the creekbed. He was extricated from the truck. Both drivers were taken to Miami Valley Hospital, troopers said. The crash remains under investigation.

Both drivers in a two-vehicle crash tonight were taken to hospitals for injuries Fairborn police described as non life-threatening.

A red SUV and red pickup truck collided around 6:45 p.m. at East Dayton Yellow Springs Road and Treibein Road.

The impact forced the pickup over a guardrail and it came to rest on a creekbed. Rescue crews had to take the roof of the pickup to get the driver out.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, which has blocked east Dayton Yellow Springs Road to traffic.

FIRST REPORT

A car is reportedly in a creek this evening after a two-vehicle crash.

The crash was reported around 6:45 p.m. at East Dayton Yellow Springs Road at Treibein Road.

CareFlight is on standby, Fairborn police said. According to initial reports, one car went over a guardrail and into the creek.
