Police in Union City, Indiana said the suspected driver of a fatal hit and run crash has been taken into custody.

According to a release from the Union City, Indiana Police Department, officer were first dispatched on a reported hit and run crash at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 425 West Hickory Street around 10:08 p.m.

Witnesses told police an argument broke out at a house party next to the church. Police said a man backed up his vehicle at a high rate of speed, struck three men, and continued backing up until crashing into St. Mary’s Church.

One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while two others were transported by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries.

Police said the vehicle involved fled the scene of the crash, but was located a short time later in the 600 block of North Union Street. The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Ramon Angulo Marin, was located at his address and was arrested.

Marin has been booked into the Randolph County Jail and was charged with voluntary manslaughter, reckless homicide, and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.

“At this time, we are still actively investigating this incident, and we are making sure proper notifications have been made, so we are not releasing the names of the victims involved,” Police Chief Cobie Wells said in the statement.

Police in Union City, Ind. confirm one man was killed and two others seriously injured after getting hit by a car Friday night.

Emergency units were dispatched to the 400 block of West Hickory Street around 10:15 p.m. on reports of multiple pedestrians hit by a vehicle.

Our news partner The Early Bird reports one man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The paper reports two other men were injured and transported to Miami Valley Hospital by a medical helicopter. The conditions of the two victims was unknown.

The vehicle that hit the men reportedly fled the scene, but was later located. It was unknown if any arrests have been made.

A coroner is on scene of a fatal hit and run involving multiple pedestrians, according to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department.

The sheriff’s department says the incident occurred at the intersection of Hickory and Plum Streets in Union City, Indiana. St. Mary’s Catholic Church sits on the Southwest corner of the intersection.

Several pedestrians were reportedly struck tonight by a vehicle.

The crash was reported sometime before 10:30 p.m. in the 400 block of West Hickory Street.

Medical helicopters and several medics were called to the scene.

Randolph County Sheriff’s Department dispatch said a crime scene has been blocked off in the area of the crash but would not release any further information.
