Dayton man indicted for rape of two-year-old

A Dayton man accused of raping a two-year-old girl has been indicted on multiple counts of rape.

The victim’s mother took her Dayton Children’s HOspital when she found a lot of blood when changing her diaper, according to a release from Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck Jr. An exam found the girl had significant internal vaginal injuries that required surgery, according to the release.

The victim’s mother had dropped her off with a babysitter on Dec. 24. The babysitter left the girl with the Demonte Lavon Heard, 21, while she ran errands.

Heard was indicted on the following charges:

  • 1 count of rape of a child under 10 years of age
  • 1 count of rape of a child under 13 by force
  • 1 count of rape of a child under 13, serious physical harm
  • 1 count of felonious assault, seriously physical harm
  • 1 count of child endangering, serious physical harm

Heard will be arraigned on Feb. 8.
