Prosecutors: Father squeezed, injured 3-month-old girl for crying while he played video game

DAYTON — A Dayton man will face criminal charges after prosecutors said he caused injuries to his 3-month-old daughter and didn’t report her injuries for days.

Logan T. Green, 28, was indicted by a Montgomery County Grand Jury Friday on a felony charge of endangering children, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office.

Prosecutors said the mother of the girl took her to Dayton Children’s Hospital March 27 after the child had a fever and was vomiting. A chest x-ray found the infant had five broken ribs that had already begun healing, a prosecutor’s office spokesperson said.

Police said their investigation found the incident was over the child crying while Green played a video game and the injuries happened about a week before the child was taken to the hospital.

“During the investigation, it was learned that about a week earlier the defendant had become frustrated with the baby girl’s crying while he was playing a video game. The defendant picked the infant up and squeezed her before giving the girl to her mother,” the prosecutor’s office spokesperson said.

“The injuries, fractured ribs, are consistent with being squeezed,” the spokesperson said.

Green is set to appear in court for his arraignment next Thursday.

“This defenseless baby was seriously injured at the hands of her 28‐year‐old father because he was more interested in playing video games than caring for his daughter,” Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck said.

“Parenting can certainly be frustrating at times, but this defendant’s heinous actions are beyond belief or comprehension.”
