Police were first called to the house in the 1700 block of Montgomery Avenue around 1:50 a.m. after reports of a shooting inside the house.
At least one shot was fired by a man who lives at the house towards another man who also lives there, Fairborn police Sgt. Mark Stannard told News Center 7. Other people who live at the home were also there however no one was hit by the gunfire, Stannard said.
The investigation turned into a standoff after the suspected shooter refused to come outside. The standoff prompted a response from the Regional Emergency Response Team, which is comprised of tactical officers from Fairborn, Beavercreek, and Huber Heights.

Tear gas was deployed during the standoff and eventually led to the suspected shooter surrendering around 7 a.m., Stannard said, adding the incident is being investigated as a domestic issue.
Online jail records indicate Michael S. Williams Jr., 48, was arrested at the Montgomery Avenue house after the standoff and was initially booked in the Fairborn City Jail. He is now listed as an inmate in the Greene County Jail, booked on preliminary charges of felonious assault, jail records indicate.
Stannard said formal charges are still pending.
Officers were on scene after the standoff ended conducting a search warrant inside the house, Stannard said.
No injuries were reported and additional details were not released.
