Fire crews were called to the 3700 block of East 4th Street near South Quentin Avenue around 4:32 a.m., Regional Dispatch told News Center 7.

Crews requested an investigator and AES Ohio was on scene, according to initial scanner traffic.

Fire crews told News Center 7′s Kayla McDermott when they arrived on scene the garage was completely in flames and they wanted to keep the house next door safe.

AES Ohio was called to the scene because a power pole was on fire, McDermott said.

Crews were also chopping the garage up so no hot spots could reignite the fire.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time.

Fire crews told McDermott they want people to get their smoke and carbon monoxide alarms checked heading into winter.

We will continue to provide updates.
