Thief clears shelves of designer jeans at shop

Several hundreds of dollars worth of designer jeans were stolen Friday from a Dayton clothing store.

The New York Hi Style store owner and clerk were at the checkout counter around 6:45 p.m. helping customers when they saw a man walk in. A short time later, they saw the same man sprint for the door and run out of the store. The man got into the passenger side of a red PT Cruiser, which took off from the parking lot in front of the business at 3279 Siebenthaler Ave., according to a Dayton police report.

Inside the store, the owner found two shelves of designer jeans had been cleared out. Multiple jeans in various sizes were taken, including brands Perruzo, which sell for $79.99 a pair; Mrzi, which sell for $59.99 a pair; and Jordan Craig, which sell for $40 a pair. The owner also said he believes some D-Lux denim jackets were missing that sold for $80 each.

The felony theft suspect is described as a thin black male of medium height who was wearing a black puffy winter jacket and black jeans, the report stated.

Police were waiting for a copy of surveillance video that shows the parking lot to help identify the suspects and the getaway vehicle.
