Teen uses sword to protect mother from ex with gun

DAYTON — A teen used a sword to protect his mother from her ex-boyfriend who kicked in the door at their Dayton home and held her at gunpoint.

Police were called around 12:30 a.m. Dec. 29 to a home in the 400 block of Harriet Street.

When they arrived, they found the front door kicked in and that the suspect — identified as 40-year-old Keyson Webb — had driven away, according to a Dayton police report.

The woman said she and her ex-boyfriend had argued earlier in the day, and that she locked the door when she heard him drive up to the house in her car. She said Webb kicked in the door and got inside. She told police she tripped over furniture as she tried to run, and that she only made it to the hallway as she tried to crawl away, the report stated.

In the hallway, she said Webb stood over her with a handgun. That’s when her teenage son got a sword from his bedroom and charged at him and slashed his arm. Webb then ran from the home, according to the report.

Webb later arrived at Grandview Medical Center, where police took him into custody on suspicion of aggravated burglary. He is no longer in jail.
