Former Heartland of Centerville employee accused of patient abuse

DAYTON — A former employee of Heartland of Centerville is accused of abusing a patient.

Dawn A. McClain, 58, of Dayton was reindicted Monday on a charge of patient abuse, according to a Montgomery County grand jury report.

She is ordered to appear Jan. 10 for arraignment.

According to the indictment, McClain allegedly abused a woman at the facility on Nov. 19, 2017.

Heartland of Centerville, at 1001 E. Alex-Bell Road, provides post-hospital skilled nursing care, according to its website.

McClain initially was indicted in June, with her trial scheduled for Feb. 20, 2019, after at least two continuances were granted at the request of her defense attorney, court records show.

She is out on a conditional own recognizance bond; among restrictions she is not allowed to leave Ohio or move from Montgomery County.
