Some potential patrons of a Kroger store attempted to take advantage of the store’s unlocked doors after closing early for Christmas Eve.
Dayton Police responded to the supermarket on Smithville Road around 7 p.m. Wednesday on reports people entered the building after the store had closed for the night and were taking products off the shelves.
After arriving on scene, police say the doors to the store were left unlocked accidentally, and were pried open by the customers.
Two cars were seen by police leaving the parking lot when officers arrived on scene. Police are not sure if anything was actually taken, and say nothing initially appeared disturbed inside the store.
A company website says that Kroger location is typically open until midnight on a normal Wednesday night, but the store closed early at 6 p.m. in observance of Christmas Eve.
