The trial judge set sentencing for a later date.
EARLIER: A Montgomery County Common Pleas jury has reached a verdict in the case again Ryan Hayes, accused of causing the death of his girlfriend in a crash September 2011.
The bailiff from the courtroom tells us the jury will be returned to the courtroom shortly. Deliberations began Thursday afternoon.
Hayes, 31, of Trotwood is accused of causing the death of Kadriyyah Harvey, 33, also of Trotwood. Harvey was killed the night of Sept. 17, 2011, when Hayes drove through cautionary signs at Hoover and Goodlow avenues that signaled a road closure and slammed head-on into a large piece of construction equipment.
The signs had been erected months earlier and an investigation determined Hayes had a blood-alcohol content of .171, more than double the legal limit, the Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office has said.
Hayes was taken to Miami Valley Hospital suffering from serious injuries. Harvey died at the scene.
Hayes, according to an indictment, was charged on two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and two counts of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.Because Hayes was intoxicated at the time of the crash, the homicide charge is punishable by up to eight years incarceration, according to the prosecutor's office.
We have a crew in the courtroom. We will update this story as details become available.
