Xenia police have arrested a woman in connection with a purse snatching that ended in a physical altercation.
A 74-year-old woman shopping at Aldi, 201 N. Allison Ave. in Xenia, reportedly had her purse snatched out of her shopping cart by another woman just after 10 a.m. Wednesday, police said.
The alleged victim reportedly observed the suspect later still inside the store and confronted her.
“At this time, a struggled ensued,” said Captain Scott Anger in a release. “Another patron came to the assistance of the victim and they were able to retrieve the purse.”
During the struggle, the 74-year-old sustained cuts and scrapes to her arm.
Stephanie J. Howell, 37, has been charged with felony robbery in the incident. She was apprehended about a half mile from the scene.
Howell is in Greene County Jail on $7,500 bond.
