Victim of deadly shooting on Ethel Avenue in Dayton identified

DAYTON — One person is dead, and another was taken to the hospital in life-threatening condition after a shooting that happened early Saturday morning in the 900 block of Ethel Avenue in Dayton.

According to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office. Frankie McGee, 26, of Dayton, was shot and killed. Another person also was shot and is in critical condition at Miami Valley Hospital.

According to Dayton Police Sgt. Creigee S. Coleman, emergency crews responded to a report of a shooting at 5:23 a.m.

A 911 caller on the scene reported he was asleep when he heard someone breaking into his house.

The caller said that he did not know the suspect and was unable to give a description of the suspect or the gun, but reported that he had been shot.

The crews found one person dead inside the apartment, and another with gunshot wounds. Medics provided life-saving care, Coleman said, and then took him to the hospital.

In initial reports police notified Miami Valley Hospital and Grandview Hospital to be on the lookout for other victims, possibly with gunshot wounds.
