Police: Donut Palace robber dropped cash as he fled

UPDATE @ 12:30 p.m. (Nov. 29)

A Donut Palace robber forced two employees to the floor at gunpoint Saturday night but dropped some of the cash as he fled.

Police were called around 8:20 p.m. to the bakery, 100 N. James H. McGee Blvd,, after a gunman pushed one employee and ordered him to the floor at gunpoint and ordered a second worker to open the cash register. The suspect emptied the register, then asked “Where’s the rest at?” but was told there was no more money. He then ordered the second employee to the floor and fled, according to a Dayton police report.

The suspect is described as a 6-foot-tall man with a thin build in his mid-20s wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and gray sweatpants. He had a black mask or scart over his face and the hood pulled up over his head and had a black and silver semi-automatic handgun, the report stated.

Surveillance camera footage caught the suspect slipping and falling as he ran behind the store, dropping the cash. A second man in a black hooded sweatshirt and black jeans helps the suspect up and helps him pick up the money he dropped. At the scene, two $20 bills were recovered by police behind the store, which were tagged as evidence, where the suspect fell. No arrests have been made and the incident is under investigation.
