Dog in Butler County found with throat slit, duct-taped muzzle

MADISON TWP., Butler County — A bystander found a dog with its throat slit and muzzle duct-taped shut along the side of the road, and now the Butler County sheriff is asking for the public’s help.

The injured dog was found Aug. 17 in the 5000 block of Trenton Franklin Road in Madison Twp.

“This is appalling. Words cannot describe the disgust I’m feeling right now. We will work diligently to find who did this and seek justice,” Sheriff Richard Jones said.

The dog was rushed to a veterinarian, where a chip was found, traced to Heart Rescue in Cincinnati, which adopted out the dog in 2011. That information is being investigated, the sheriff said.

The county dog warden is investigating the animal cruelty case, and needs help to identify the dog and find its owner. Anyone with information is urged to call the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, 513-785-1000 or 513-424-2456 in the Middletown area.
