UPDATE @ 1:45a.m. (Oct. 21)
Dayton police said a man who told officers he was hit by a car late Tuesday night, was actually the driver of the car.
Officers told our crew on the scene the man was injured when he crashed into a pole and tree before his car caught on fire near Drexmore and Parkhill drives in Dayton. He was transported to Miami Valley Hospital but his condition is unknown.
The pole was snapped in half, but remained upright. Crews will remain on scene until DP&L can replace the pole.
Officers were initially unsure what charges or citations the driver could face.
UPDATE @ 12:15 a.m. (Oct. 21): We're hearing that a light or power pole is resting on the car reported to have been on fire and is in danger of toppling to the road.
We’re also hearing the accident scene is in the area of Drexmore and Parkhill drives.
There has been no word about the person found at the scene who told police he had been hit by the vehicle. We have a crew on scene and we will continue to update this report.
FIRST REPORT (Oct. 20)
Police and a fire crew have been dispatched to a car fire and person said to have been hit by that car.
The accident was reported about 11:35 p.m. in the area of Shaftesbury Road and Drexmore Drive.
We’re hearing that the person was discovered in the street and may have suffered a leg injury.
We have a crew on the way. We will update this report as we get information.
