Butler County man pleads guilty in 2018 robbery, shooting of Dayton woman

DAYTON — A 30-year-old man pleaded guilty Monday for the robbery and shooting of a Dayton woman in December 2018, but he will not spend any additional time in prison.

As part of his plea, Nathaniel Morningstar of Fairfield Twp. in Butler County was sentenced in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court to seven years, to be served concurrent to a separate federal offense.

Morningstar’s conviction comes almost exactly one year after he was indicted for shooting a woman in her leg during a Dec. 29, 2018, robbery at an apartment in the 800 block of Huffman Avenue in Dayton.

Morningstar pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery with a three-year firearm specification and felonious assault. Another felonious assault charge and two additional firearm specifications were dropped in exchange for his guilty plea. He was given credit for 291 days of jail time served and was ordered to pay restitution to the victim.

Also charged with Morningstar was Lamar A. Story, 28, of Cincinnati.

He was convicted of robbery on Aug. 30, 2019, was sentenced to 18 months in prison and ordered to pay $470 restitution to the victim. He was credited for 220 days behind bars before his sentencing.

He is incarcerated at the Lebanon Correctional Institution, and will be supervised by the parole board for three years once he is released, according to court documents.
