A burglar stole more than $1,500 worth of computer equipment without even entering the store early Thursday morning.
The alarm company notified the store manager at Radio Shack, 514 Wilmington Ave., of an interior motion alarm a little after 3 a.m., according to the Dayton police report.
No other motion was detected and the store manager decided not to contact police because of city fines for previous false alarms, according to the report.
He contacted police in the morning though after discovering the rear window was shattered and about a dozen wireless and advanced computer routers were missing, according to the report.
Police said the items were valued at $1,565.
Officers found a broken cinder block on the ground outside by a shattered window in the rear of the building. Underneath the window was a chair that the burglar apparently used to reach in and take the items, according to the report.
Both Trotwood and Miami Twp. police investigated break-ins at cell phone stores in their communities overnight. It's unclear if the incidents are all related.
