1 arrested in Trotwood-Dayton stolen car case

UPDATE @ 11:05 p.m.: One person was apprehended shortly after the stolen car crashed on Benson Drive in Dayton earlier this evening and authorities are looking for three others believed to have been in that car, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said in a statement released a few minutes ago.

According to the sheriff’s office, sheriff’s detectives spotted the vehicle just after 8:30 p.m. and notified regional county dispatch as well as any marked police or sheriff’s cruisers in the area.

A marked sheriff’s cruiser began following the white Volkswagen Golf, taken in a strong arm robbery in Trotwood on Sunday night, and attempted to stop it on Philadelphia Drive at Hillcrest Avenue. The deputy last saw the car head south on Benson and came upon the wrecked vehicle in the yard of a home near Wicklow Place. Deputies made the one arrest a short time later, according to the statement.

The information and suspect have been turned over to Trotwood police, according to the sheriff’s office.
