GREENE COUNTY — Cease and desist letters were sent to three Greene County businesses that provide pet grooming, citing violations of the Ohio Department of Health order for non-essential businesses, according to Greene County Public Health officials.

The pet grooming portion of the businesses were deemed as non-essential in the amended Ohio state-at-home order, which is in effect until May 1, public health officials said in a media release. The letters stated that the businesses must stop all pet grooming operations while the order is in effect.

“Part of your business is classified as a non-essential business, specifically the grooming portion of your business is not included in the list of essential businesses,” Greene County health officials said in the letter to the businesses. “You are required to immediately cease the pet grooming operations under the Director’s order until further notice.”

Other activities that are considered minimum basic operations would be allowed to continue at the three businesses, officials said.

The businesses were not identified by public health officials.

If the businesses do not comply with the order, civil and criminal penalties, including arrest, could be taken by law enforcement.

Greene County residents are asked to contact public health officials through this form if they have complaints or concerns about a local business being essential or non-essential.

Officials will open investigations for businesses receiving complaints.
