Coronavirus: Mama DiSalvo’s using new tech to keep safe

KETTERING — A Kettering restaurant is keeping customers safe with a high tech approach.

Mama DiSalvo’s Italian Ristorante will open its dining room Thursday evening, for the first time since March.

“41 years of taking care of customers tableside, we really missed that,” Bobby DiSalvo, one of the restaurant’s owners said.

The restaurant bought an $1,800 temperature camera to make sure no staff or customers have fevers when they enter the restaurant.

It is the same machine now set up at the Clark County Municipal Court.

The company that installed the devices, CND Security Inc. said the price varies, but is always under $2,000.

This is an investment DiSalvo hopes will not only stop people from getting sick, but also help people feel comfortable in his dining room.

“It monitors people coming in so that they know they’re safe sitting here,” DiSalvo said.

The camera does not record people’s pictures or information.
