MIAMI TOWNSHIP — Sweet Sensations gourmet chocolate and candy store is closing its location inside the Dayton Mall after 15 years of operation.

Owners Tim and Pam Sizemore cited a lack of foot traffic and lower profits as the reasons for the closure.

The decision to shut down follows the departure of other retailers at the mall, including a collectibles store that closed seven months ago.
The owners noted that the rise of online shopping and a decrease in shoppers contributed to the business being unsustainable.
News Center 7’s Amber Jenkins talked to shoppers at the Dayton Mall about the closures.
Most shoppers said they were not surprised by the announcement given the recent history of closures.
The Sizemores added that the mall is not bringing in the same amount of people as it once did.
Ryder Hamilton, a shopper from Miami Township, suggested that the mall could attract more visitors by hosting community-focused activities.
“I know like in Franklin they have like movie nights at a park. Maybe if you had like social events here where people would come,” Hamilton said.
