CLARK COUNTY — UPDATE @ 8:38 p.m.
A driver who flipped a truck into the median of I-70 Tuesday evening fell asleep at the wheel before the crash, according to police at the scene.
Police told our crew the driver, travelling in the eastbound lane of the highway, almost went into the westbound lane before overcorrecting and turning the tuck on its side.
The unidentified driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and will be charged with failure to control, according to police.
Our crew at the scene reports traffic is moving while crews address the crash in the median of the highway.
INITIAL REPORT
The far left lanes of I-70 East and West in Clark County are closed because of a wreck involving a large Ryder moving and storage truck that is on its side and in mud.
Multiple rescue crews and Ohio Highway Patrol troopers are on the scene, which is east of Springfield and in the area of U.S. 40 (East National Road).
According to a dispatch report, which has not been confirmed, the driver is telling authorities he fell asleep as he was heading west on the interstate. He and his passenger were trapped in the wreckage, according to police/fire dispatch reports.
The accident was dispatched about 7:15 p.m.
